New OOCL Mediterranean Service to Montréal Launches October 13
The new weekly service connecting Mediterranean ports with Montréal will give Canadian businesses another option for shipping goods from Morocco, Italy, France, and Spain.
A new weekly OOCL Mediterranean service connecting seven ports with Montréal is set to begin on October 13, expanding ocean freight options for Canadian businesses trading goods with the region.
OOCL announced its Canadian Gateway Express 3 (GEX3) service on September 17, with the first westbound sailing scheduled to depart Salerno, Italy, on October 13.
The GEX3 service will connect Montréal with Tangier in Morocco; Salerno, Livorno, and Genoa in Italy; Fos-sur-Mer in France; and Sagunto and Algeciras in Spain.
The full westbound rotation begins in Tangier, but the first sailing is scheduled to depart from Salerno on October 13.
The first eastbound sailing from Montréal is scheduled for November 9 and will call at the same seven Mediterranean ports.
OOCL says a dedicated feeder network will also support the weekly service, providing connections to additional destinations across the Mediterranean.
For Canadian businesses sourcing goods from Morocco, Italy, France, Spain, and other Mediterranean markets, the new service provides another option for moving containerized cargo to Montréal.
The combination of direct port calls and feeder connections could give businesses greater flexibility when planning ocean freight shipments.
