The WTO Launches Revamped Tariff & Trade Data Platform

By consolidating and simplifying access to trade statistics, the updated platform aims to improve data transparency and facilitate decision-making in international trade.

As part of its ongoing efforts to simplify access to trade data, the World Trade Organization (WTO) has launched its Tariff & Trade Data (TTD) platform. This newly updated platform provides official tariff and trade statistics for over 150 economies.

Businesses from across the globe will now be able to use this platform to access crucial information about global tariff structures and trade flows—quickly and efficiently.

Currently in its beta version, the TTD platform builds on the previous Tariff Analysis Online tool but offers a more integrated and extensive approach to trade data. It is also designed to improve accessibility, transparency, and ease of use.

A more comprehensive and up-to-date resource

The WTO Tariff & Trade Data (TTD) platform aggregates official tariff and import data reported by WTO members to the Integrated Data Base (IDB), along with bound duties and trade commitments recorded in the Consolidated Tariff Schedules (CTS) database.

To further improve its scope and capabilities, the platform incorporates more data from the WTO Analytical Database (ADB), which integrates WTO sources such as regional trade agreements (RTA) and external partners. This includes the International Trade Centre, UN Comtrade, and Trade Data Monitor.

Moreover, to ensure timely and accurate updates, the platform follows a multi-tiered update schedule, with data refreshes occurring daily, monthly, or at different intervals, depending on the source.

This makes it a reliable tool for businesses interested in analyzing global trade trends.

Key features of the updated Tariff & Trade Data platform

The TTD platform is designed to improve global trade transparency by providing easy access to reliable and up-to-date trade information. Its key features include:

  • Statistical indicators on tariffs and trade for over 150 economies.
  • A bilateral trade dataset that details annual trade flows categorized by product groups.
  • Import and export reports that break down trade values and market shares by partner and product.
  • Time series data with historical trade patterns dating back to 1996.
  • Tariff line-level data that provide detailed tariff structures and import statistics.
  • The ability to download data.
  • A comprehensive set of references, including notes and links to other WTO trade portals.
  • Public access to data, where users can use the platform without registration or login.
