Duty Remission on Ukrainian Goods Extended to June 2027

Duty Remission on Ukrainian Goods Extended to June 2027

If you import goods originating in Ukraine, review those imported on or after June 10, 2026, to confirm the remission was correctly applied. If customs duties were paid on eligible goods during this period, you may be eligible for a refund.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) updated Customs Notice 22-12 to extend Duty Remission on Ukrainian Goods for eligible goods imported into Canada.

The Ukraine Goods Remission Order period, which was set to expire on June 9, 2026, now runs from June 9, 2022, through June 9, 2027.

What is not covered

The remission does not apply to goods subject to the General Tariff or to goods classified under the tariff items listed in the Order’s schedule.

Moreover, the remission of duties under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), which covers anti-dumping and countervailing duties, is no longer in effect after June 9, 2025.

Import restrictions also remain in place for goods from certain regions of Ukraine, including Crimea and controlled territories in Donetsk and Luhansk.

How to claim remission

Importers of eligible Ukrainian goods may obtain duty relief at the time of import by entering the applicable special authorization code in Special Authority OIC (Field 80) of the Commercial Accounting Declaration (CAD).

Special authorization code 25-502 must be used for eligible commercial goods imported between June 10, 2025, and June 9, 2027, inclusive.

For eligible commercial goods imported before that period, code 22-649 applies.

If the goods are subject to duties under SIMA, the SIMA Code (Field 84a) must also be completed using the appropriate code.

The claim for remission must be made within two years of the date of importation.

Refunds may be available for eligible goods imported within the applicable two-year claim period, provided that customs duties were paid and the goods meet the requirements of the Ukraine Goods Remission Order.
