Canadian shipping giant Canada Steamship Lines (CSL) has inked a deal to acquire 50% of Norway’s Peak Group, forming the Peak CSL Group.
This partnership marks a pivotal moment in the maritime industry, as it merges the knowledge and resources of two leading entities in the logistics field.
The collaboration will expand CSL’s market footprint and underscore a shared vision to revolutionize marine logistics solutions for industrial clients across Europe. It also signifies a strengthened presence in the maritime industry, potentially leading to improved efficiency, reliability, and innovation in shipping operations.
Peak CSL Group will offer an expanded suite of services, particularly within the booming offshore renewable energy sector. This includes rock and ballast logistics support for offshore wind farms, turnkey material transfer solutions and a fleet of project carriers that includes low-to-zero emission vessels, all facilitated by in-house engineering capabilities.
This isn’t the first time the two companies have collaborated. They recently built the Hywind Tampen project, the world’s first floating wind farm designed to power offshore oil and gas installations. For this project, a CSL self-unloading ship helped install 11 small floating foundations for the 107.5-meter wind turbines.
Headquartered in Montreal and renowned for its marine knowledge, CSL is the leading owner and operator of self-unloading vessels worldwide. With a vast operational footprint spanning the Americas, Australia, Europe, and Africa, CSL facilitates the transportation of millions of tonnes of cargo annually. It serves clients in diverse sectors such as construction, steel, energy, and agri-food.
Based in Bergen, Norway, Peak Group has been a dynamic player in the European market since 2005. It offers comprehensive shipping, logistics, and engineering solutions to various industries. Its services encompass short sea shipping, global freight forwarding, ships agency, marine engineering, transport engineering, ship management, and more.
